"You were sweet to me," she says quietly, looking down at the floor, lacing her fingers over each other in her nervousness. "Ever since that first night, when you came up to see me in my room, you-- you were always just so open and friendly to me, you treated me like just another person rather than looking at me like a Victor or a Mentor or a Districter. That's what I needed." She sighs, hating herself for what she's about to say. "But I think that's maybe fairer to you as a friend than a partner. My issues shouldn't have to be your responsibility."
